MetroAction Postcards

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

We’ve been fortunate at BlackOut to have a fruitful working relationship with MetroAction. We think it’s led to some of our best work and it’s helped MetroAction maintain its status as the leading provider of small business loans and resources in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

Recently, to help promote MetroAction’s upcoming business training seminars, BlackOut produced a series of print postcards that carry all of the pertinent information on the seminars and registration. The cards will provide a high impact, informative piece of collateral that MetroAction staff can distribute to their network of clients and referral partners.

Hexagon Project Postcards for the MAC Gallery

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

BlackOut continued its collaborative relationship with the Melberger Arts Center Gallery, designing postcards to promote the upcoming Hexagon Project exhibit at the gallery.

The Hexagon Project is part of Interdependece Day activities in Scranton. Interdependence Day aims to “acknowledge the inevitability and significance of interdependence in our time, and set out to build constructively and culturally a global civic society.”

Reflecting that theme, the Hexagon Project invites school students respond creatively to global issues and design unique hexagon art. More than 300 hexagons will be on display in the MAC exhibit.

Interdependence Day 2009 will be celebrated on Thursday, September 10, 2009. The Hexagon exhibit opens Friday,
September 4, 2009, and will remain on display through October.

Valley Distributing and Storage Co. design

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

For over 50 years, Valley Distributing & Storage Company has been the premier provider of supply chain solutions in the Northeast; and when they needed a design firm to communicate that sterling reputation to an online audience, they turned to BlackOut.

We designed a new site that reflects the full range of Valley’s logistics services including warehousing, transportation and distribution. Valley needed a web presence that was innovative and elegant. See the results at the Valley Distributing & Storage Company site.

BlackOut revisits Rediscover Scranton design

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

A few years ago, BlackOut was invited to help develop and market an exciting community development initiative, Rediscover Scranton. We’ve remained involved with the program and recently we had an opportunity to reflect upon how much Rediscover Scranton has grown during a refresh of our initial site design.

Rediscover Scranton is an initiative to promote the Greater Scranton area and its educational, cultural and business assets to professionals with ties to the area. They came to us looking for a site refresh that gave greater access to the full range of news they provide on the people, places and businesses that make up the Greater Scranton area. The new site design would also incorporate a BlackOut-designed blog, as well as information on their new partnership with POWER! Scranton.

POWER! Scranton is one of Northeastern Pennsylvania’s leading networking and social organizations for young professionals so the partnership with Rediscover Scranton was a natural fit.

Check out the results of BlackOut’s work at Rediscover Scranton or the Rediscover Scranton blog.

BlackOut Art Director chosen for Marywood review

Monday, April 27th, 2009

BlackOut Art Director Phil Barket was invited to give back to his alma mater last week when Marywood University asked Phil to review the senior portfolios of graduating art students.

Phil was one of just four regional art director/editors invited chosen to review the Marywood seniors’ work and conduct interviews with the students.

The goal of the review was to equip the graduating students with interview experience as they prepare to enter the work force and to provide them feedback on their work from established professionals in the art/design industry.

BlackOut’s Green Clients

Friday, April 24th, 2009

This Earth Week, we’re focusing on our BlackOut clients who’ve made a commitment to environmental responsibility in pursuing their business goals.

Foremost among those is Cambrian Biotechnologies, maker of organic agricultural, health and beauty and animal products, all created from Ecklonia maxima kelp. Cambrian’s mission statement says it all:

“The Earth is ours to cherish”

Founder Stephen Pheiffer is a pioneer in the field of kelp processing and his commitment has remained the same since he started Cambrian – to offer uniquely effective products made from only natural, organic materials.

Cambrian products can help farmers make the transition to organic farming or help you go green in your own home garden or backyard.
